Beautiful vintage Japanese hand loomed woven silk fabric. This is a Tsumugi kimono silk meaning the pattern is created from weaving Not dying. This is a very dark colorway so it is difficult to capture the subtle blue design against the black. The photo with the Japanese writing 100% silk - hand loomed in Japan. The Japanese calligraphy photo is for informational purposes only -- it identifies the region in which this was woven - you will not receive this in your cut. Tiny geometric design created with a tied off ikat technique using natural dies of black and light blue silk. The resulting overall hue is somewhat teal and the surface has a somewhat satin smooth hand. This silk has a bit of a structure from the weft weave - very tightly woven - possibly a dupioni weave with no slubbing. It is used for the Tsumugi kimono or Obi belts -- also could be used for making hair bows or bow ties as well as patchwork silk garments.
Offered by the yard x 14” wide. 1 yard = 36" inches.

The last photo shows how all fabric orders are neatly folded, tied with trim, wrapped in pattern paper and topped off with a vintage playing card from my extensive collection. Thank you for visiting my little shop --
